FOUR Ovens and Murray juniors have been selected in NSW water polo teams.
Tyson Mutsch and Callum Bruce (under 16 boys), Ollie Cooper (under 14 boys) and Sally Lefoe (under 14 girls) have been named to represent the state at the Sydney Youth Festival at Sydney’s Olympic Park next week.
They will complete their training sessions this weekend before the opening ceremony on Sunday evening.
The games start on Monday with teams from Queensland, Victoria, ACT and South Australia taking part as well as international sides from New Zealand, Thailand and Indonesia.
Mutsch, Bruce, Cooper and Lefoe have been travelling to Sydney to train every second weekend since the start of March.
The first trips were trials where they were assessed for swimming ability and speed as well as water polo skills and game knowledge in the pool.
The other sessions have focused on building fitness, skills and playing with new teammates.
Former Australian water polo player Greg McFadden has been lending some tips in the lead-up to the festival.
He competed in the 1992 Olympics and is head coach of the Australia women's national water polo team.
The Ovens and Murray has a reputation for nurturing young talent with a host of champions coming through the ranks.
