Vicki Cosentino will test the vibe of the market by trying to sell the house backing onto Essendon airport at auction on July 26.
Brad Teal Real Estate agent Rebecca Towns confirmed the auction for the three-bedroom weatherboard home was only finalised this week.
"Someone can actually own the house and put their memorabilia and momentos in their own pool room," Ms Towns said.
"Typically these houses people buy for relocation usually range between $1000 and $10,000 so it really gives someone an opportunity whether they are a first home owner or someone who has a piece of land up in Bonnie Doon or wherever.
"The owner doesn't want to see it demolished because it is such an iconic Australian home."
Ms Cosentino has owned the home since 1993 and four years since it featured in The Castle.
The latest rental lease on the home where the fictional Kerrigan clan of Daryl and Sal and family lived expires on Friday.
The successful purchaser will need to apply for a permit to relocate Mr Kerrigan's castle to the destination of their choice.
Federation Council administrator Mike Eden previously committed council to paying for the moving costs to a potential site near the Corowa Whisky and Chocolate Factory where he thought it would become a magnet for tourists.
He said Federation hadn't chickened out and could still buy the house with its economic development officer Greg Aplin in Melbourne for talks with the owner.
"If we can do a deal to assist in getting it moved up to Corowa we will do what we can to help on the proviso it didn't cost us long-term," he said.
"But I don't know whether the Corowa Whisky and Chocolate Factory are still interested."
Factory managing director Dean Druce couldn't be contacted for comment.
