Australian National University research revealed the rate of mesothelioma in men living in Mr Fluffy homes was two and a half times higher than in other men.
Some homes in Greater Hume, Albury and Berrigan contain loose-fill asbestos.
“The ANU study only looked at the ACT, but if the same Mr Fluffy insulation was used, the findings are probably broadly translatable to other areas,” study leader Dr Rosemary Korda said. “From the 17,000 people known to have lived in a Mr Fluffy house in the ACT over a 30-year period, only seven people, all men, contracted mesothelioma.”
