Having lived in the town for the past four years, Ms Stone opened Reclaim Winebar & Cafe on April 5.

Within days, the town's biggest employer Carter Holt Harvey locked out workers from the plywood mill in response to the threat of industrial action.

The ripple effects of the long-running dispute spread across all areas of life in the small country community.

For Ms Stone, herself a mill worker for four years, the timing could not have been worse.

“We spent tens of thousands of dollars to get it (the wine bar) up and running and we wanted to give Myrtleford a go,” she said.

“We could have done it in Bright but we thought how cool it would be to give Myrtleford something really swanky.”

Her husband’s work sent Ms Stone and family to Western Australia in 2004.

“I was a stay-at-home mum of five children for the first year, then I decided to start decorating cakes,” she said.

“I learnt this skill some 26 years ago when our two eldest sons were very small.

“It soon turned into something big and could no longer do it from home, so I opened a cake design studio and cupcake cafe in Leederville, Perth. This is where I created the cupcake bouquet.”

As our picture shows, the cupcake bouquet adds an extra festive touch to a staple ingredient of many parties and morning teas.

Ms Stone plans to continue making the treat as part of her new venture, complementing the main business.
