A Yarrawonga home earned Lekeal the title of residential builder of the year while Zauner took out the commercial equivalent for its work on Trinity Anglican College’s new senior school in Thurgoona.

Master Builders Association of Victoria chief executive Radley de Silva praised both entries, saying Lekeal had shaped a comfortable domestic environment.

“That strikes the right balance between inward looking and outward gazing spaces, and the view to the flora of nearby Lake Mulwala is hard to beat,” he said.

Mr de Silva said institutional projects always posed a substantial challenge in budget and function.

“The (Trinity) building plan looks to break down the form of the traditional classroom by using walls that are offset, angled and openable to define spaces without hard edges,” he said.
