Buddy Joe Devlin had gotten into an argument before the incident in Lavington on June 16.
Holbrook highway patrol officers were parked on Wagga Road, near Catherine Crescent, when the 19-year-old came roaring past in a blue Holden Commodore.
The car was clocked by a laser at 145km/h, which was 85km/h over the speed limit.
Police activated their lights and an in car video recording and spoke to Devlin, who already had his licence ready by the time they got to the window.
“Yeah I know, you, got me, I’m not denying it,” he said.
He told police he had been involved with a verbal altercation with another man at the nearby BP service station, which had made him angry and led to him driving at high speeds.
Police noticed he had his young partner and two-year-old daughter in the vehicle.
Alcohol and drug tests were negative, but police noted in court documents the danger he had posed through a range of factors.
“Due to the accused’s limited driving experience, the young passengers in the vehicle, limited street lighting and time of day the offence occurred, the likelihood of a potential collision occurring (was) likely,” they said.
“The accused has not only endangered himself, but also his young female passenger and two-year-old daughter.”
Magistrate Tony Murray told Devlin he would be sentenced on August 21.
“You’re at some risk of going to jail for the offence,” he said on Tuesday.
The Albury man was banned from driving after being pulled over.
He is looking at a lengthy stint of the road.
Police were concerned he had only been licensed for short time, having got his learner permit in June 2015.
Devlin received his probationary licence 12 months later, which meant he had only been driving for about two years before the incident.
Mr Murray said it was a particularly bad example of driving in a dangerous manner.
