Three food businesses, Ebden & Olive, Nord Bakery and Butt’s Gourmet Smokehouse, have established a pop-up shop for a month in the former Q Food site on Dean Street.
Butt’s Gourmet Smokehouse has been a fixture in Tribune Street for many years, offering a range of smoked meat products.
Nord Bakery and Ebden & Olive, both in South Albury, are newer to the region’s food scene, opening in May 2015 and July last year respectively.
Nord Bakery owner Thor Sonnichsen said the pop-up plan came together quickly.
“The three businesses are a bit out of the way, not on the main street, so an opportunity came up where we could jump into an empty building for a short term and just showcase ourselves where there’s a bit more foot traffic,” he said.
“It’s a selection of each of the shops’ produce. I think we’re all very complementary to each other, so it’s more of a theme of bread, cheese and meat; one stop for everything you need for a nice cheese plate or dinner party.”
The pop-up shop is now open four hours a day from Tuesday to Saturday for the next three weeks.
“Just creating awareness,” Mr Sonnichsen said. “And the fact there’s high quality food outlets around town.”
