Albury Wodonga Health has reduced its wait list “by 300” so far this year, and this number will come down further thanks to a $233.7 million budget for 2018, says its chief executive Leigh McJames.

“We’ve got very good responsiveness around our wait list at the moment, and this funding will help to continue to reduce the time people wait for elective surgery,” he said.
“It’s obviously good; it’s a mixture of indexation and growth which allows AWH to grow the service to meet the needs of the community.
“It’s operational money, part of an agreement between NSW and Victoria, and helps us to keep doing the good job we do.”
The 4.2 per cent increase in funding on the 2016 budget was announced by Victorian Health Minister Jill Hennessy.
Northeast Health Wangaratta received $98.3 million, up by 7.3 per cent on the previous year.
