He’s a bit of a cult hero at Osborne. He’s a terrific bloke and has played some good footy in the midfield since I have been here.
- Coach Matt Rava
Growing up on the family farm only a couple of hundred metres from the club’s front gate, loyal utility Stephen Doig fits into the latter category.
Doig will join some of Osborne’s biggest names in reaching 200 senior matches when he lines up against Murray Magpies at Osborne on Saturday.
Coach Matt Rava said the premiership player had made a huge impact on and off the field since coming through the junior ranks.
“He’s a bit of a cult hero at Osborne,” Rava said.
“’Doigy’ has been around for a while.
“He’s a terrific bloke and has played some good footy in the midfield since I have been here after mainly being a defender before that.”
Dog is the fourth Osborne player in the past month to bring up a milestone following Jamie Parr (150), George Alexander (50) and Jeremy Bahr (100).
The Cats are in line for more premiership success after winning their first 13 home and away matches.
Their under-14 and 17s are also sitting on top of the ladder.
