The Commercial Club, which owns the two-storey building on the corner of Dean and Elizabeth streets, has lodged a development application with Albury Council for the venture which will also incorporate a burger bar.
The club confirmed the micro brewery would be built to produce at least four craft beers.
“The intention would be to have work completed by early November to allow for the products produced from the micro brewery to form part of the beer festival being held in Albury in December,” Commercial Club management said in a statement on Friday.
“Also, to offer a point of difference in the beer market of Albury.
“Whilst it will be called Albury Brew House, it will be operated as a brewery and burger bar.”
Club management confirmed the new venture would operate on both levels of the building.
The development application was submitted with council this week and comes less than two months after Cafe Victor shut its doors following almost three decades in business.
“The proposal will positively contribute to the existing high retail and restaurant socio-economic values of Dean Street by creating a further consolidation of Commercial Club gathering and socialising opportunities through related investment, management and activation,” the development application states.
The proposed hours of operation are 7am to midnight every day.
The development application prepared by Blueprint Planning also incorporates images from architect Paul Simpson.
The Commercial Club bought the corner restaurant building in recent years and also recently incorporated a former bank building next door into the main club building as part of $6 million expansion.
It’s expected to bring at least 25 brewers to Albury with similar events in Geelong attracting crowds of 5000 people.
The Bright Brewery and Beechworth's Bridge Road Brewers are among those confirmed to take part.
The event to be held in QEII Square will run from 3pm to 10pm.
