Joe Forster opened the scoring for Magpies with a great deflection 10 minutes into the second stanza.
A great turnover from Rhys Macpherson saw Noah Erdeljac score the second goal, but Norths weren't giving up and responded with a quick goal from Adam Pontt.
However, Simon Wright netted the sealer late for Magpies to deliver them a 3-1 triumph.
CR United thrashed Wombats 8-2, while Wodonga beat Falcons 3-0.
In the women’s competition, CR United recorded a hard-fought 2-1 victory against Wombats.
United took a 2-0 lead into the break, but a Emma Hooppell goal got Wombats back into it.
The game seesawed until the end as United escaped with the points.
Magpies defeated Norths 6-0, while Wodonga edged out Falcons 3-1.
