Yangomina made the trek from Port Moresby to the township on the weekend to catch up with his former teammates at Rand-Walbundrie-Walla’s premiership reunions.
“It’s great to come back,” Yangomina, 36, said.
“It’s felt like yesterday we were running on to the grounds.
“You understand the real bond around the club that keeps local communities together.
“I made a lot of friends here and didn’t hesitate coming back even if it was only for a short time.”
Yangomina, who played in three under-17 and two under-14 flags at Walla, flew out of Port Moresby on Friday afternoon and returned to Papua New Guinea on Monday.
He was school captain at St Paul’s College in 1999 and is first secretary to a minister in the PNG Government.
About 200 former players and supporters attended the reunion.
