The Wanderers have had the season from hell on the injury front and face a massive task to stay in the top eight over the last five weeks if they want to play finals.
Wilhelm has missed five weeks with a hamstring, young gun Callum Speirs is already out for the season with a broken wrist, Jarrod Murphy hasn’t played for eight weeks with an ankle issue, Tyson Mason broke his arm and Jason Bowe hurt his quad in Sunday’s 6-5 loss to Albury City – a game which Twin City led 3-1.
Aaron Williams has been back on the park after fracturing his ankle, but hasn’t been at full fitness.
“If we can hang onto eighth, we might have everyone ready for the first final, but we’ll struggle to field them, myself included, before then,” Wilhelm said.
Twin City faces Melrose this weekend, before clashes with Myrtleford, Cobram, Wangaratta and St Pats.
