Xavier’s China program coordinator Amy Martin said the school would host 20 students and three staff members from Number One High School Nanping, China, until Saturday.
She said the sister schools had a mutually beneficial history of visits and knowledge sharing.
“It’s a fantastic opportunity for our students, it opens them up and shows how similar they actually are – bringing cultures together,” Miss Martin said.
Miss Martin said the visit helps both the Australian and Chinese students develop their language skills, by providing a rare opportunity to communicate with native speakers.
The Chinese students will return the Border’s hospitality when Xavier High School students travel to Nanping later in the November.
“It’s been a fantastic relationship,” Miss Martin said.
“We took 13 students last year and the program has double this year up to 27 students.”
