Although numbers are down due to a clash with the VRS series, organiser Ken Payne said the depth of talent was still strong.
Wagga’s Myles Stewart and Jake Brooker and Shepparton’s Trent Stevenson will be among the favourites, along with Albury’s Tim Guy.
Former winners Rob Young (2002) and Andrew Duggan (2005) will also be riding.
Tour de France green jersey winner Michael Matthews won the classic in 2008.
Eleven female riders have entered with Taryn Heather and Kate Perry expected to be prominent when the race starts at Wagga from 10am.
“Numbers are down a little bit with a clash of events but it’s still not a bad field,” organiser Ken Payne said.
“It should be a good race.”
Leading Border rider Neil Van der Ploeg is unavailable due to overseas commitments.
The race weaves its way through Mangoplah, Cookardinia, Morven, Culcairn, Walla and Jindera before finishing at Lavington Hall in Urana Road at about 1pm.
The classic is named after one of the Border's best known road cyclists, John Woodman, who passed away after a road accident while training in 1986.
