That’s exactly what Murray United’s marquee man Archie Thompson has been doing this season with a club one point from the top.
When Thompson has been unable to commit to training in Wodonga with the Border outfit, he’s hit the track with league rivals Dandenong City – Murray’s opponents on Saturday.
Despite a potential conflict, Dandenong City were still happy to have Thompson at training this week, but the star striker is unsure if it will be for much longer.
“I said to them it could be my last training session with you boys, because if I score, I don’t know if you’ll want me to train with you any more,” he laughed.
“They actually had me doing a lot more than I usually do, so maybe thought they could flog me into the ground before Saturday.”
Thompson scored in Murray’s 2-2 draw with Dandenong City earlier in the season.
