The 50-year-old is the only Murray Goulburn milk production worker to shift from the company’s Kiewa plant to its Cobram factory.
He will start on Thursday in the bulk cheese area after toiling for eight years at Kiewa.
The move means Mr Day will spend four days a week at Cobram away from his partner and four stepdaughters.
“It will be hard, but I’ll go there because I just want to keep a full-time job,” Mr Day said.
“It’s too hard to find full-time jobs.”
Some of those facing the loss of their jobs on the milk line at Kiewa had already left before this week.
Those remaining were given $4000 by Murray Goulburn to stay until the end of production.
