The RSPCA Cupcake day is taking place on Monday, August 21 and Border businesses are being encouraged to host their own event.
Sarah Hetherington of Agriculture Victoria – a proud owner of Groodle Daphne – has run the event for 15 years, and for the past six, at the department’s Wodonga office.
“As someone who admires what RSPCA does, it’s a great way to show support,” she said.
“Working at Agriculture Victoria, most people have a love for animals too.”
Colleague Amy Moore is one of those people – she fostered RSPCA animals for six years.
“We went to the pound and assessed dogs and dealt with people surrendering animals and reports of animal cruelty,” she said.
“I think everyone should own rescue dogs.”
All of the money raised through the cupcake day helps rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home the 135,000 animals that come through RSPCA shelters every year.
