But unlike most footballers in the twilight of their career, it was a cow injury rather than a calf injury which broke his impressive streak in the Upper Murray league.
The Corryong coach missed Saturday’s clash against Border-Walwa after a mishap on his family farm during the week.
“I have had a few injuries over the years but managed to get through them,” Nicholas said.
“But not this time.
“A cow fell on top of me and squashed me a bit.
“Both legs came out from under her and I was unfortunately trying to hold up the front leg and that’s where she went.
“It just bruised me in a few areas, but I’ll be right.”
Nicholas has played almost 250 matches for his beloved Demons and is certain to return for their second semi-final clash against Bullioh at Bullioh on August 19.
They take on Cudgewa in the final round on Saturday.
“I’ve had a pretty good run over the years,” he said.
“Almost 10 years isn’t too bad.”
With Bullioh and Corryong to finish well ahead of the pack at the end of the home and away series, injuries will be pivotal in the race for the flag.
Both sides have rarely fielded full strength line-ups this season.
Meanwhile, Federal and Border-Walwa will lock horns in this weekend’s final round before doing battle again the following weekend in the first semi-final at Corryong.
