THE standards achieved over five days of the Albury Wodonga Eisteddfod speech and drama discipline impressed the person tasked with judging the young actors.

Adjudicator Lynette Blumenthal praised the performers’ confidence and ability to share what they had learned with an audience.
The speech and drama sessions, which ended Saturday, included sections for soloists, pairs and groups from six to 16 years and under.
Mrs Blumenthal encouraged the competitors not to stop speaking in public.
“It’s a skill that you need for life,” she said. “Because you have to talk in life, you have to make yourself known, you have to make your wants known, you have to be able to talk that people want to listen to you.”
The eisteddfod continues until August 12
