The Bulldogs must defeat Brocklesby-Burrumbuttock or Osborne in the final two rounds to be guaranteed the double chance with Chamings eager to grab every possible advantage in the race for the flag.
“It’s a big couple of weeks for us,” Chamings said.
“We’re aiming for that top-two spot obviously.
“Anyone can really win it this year so you want to give yourself every possible chance.
“It’s probably the tightest the competition has been since we won it in 2011 when Holbrook and Culcairn were near it as well.”
Chamings, who joined Jindera from North Albury in 2010, has played back and forward during his career with coach Kerry Bahr playing him mainly out of defence this season.
He hasn’t disappointed in holding players of the ilk of Henty’s James Breen and looks a chance of picking up Saints’ giant Justin Koschitzke at Brocklesby on Saturday.
“My preference is forward, but Kerry likes me back,” he said.
“I’ll play wherever the team needs me.
“I usually get a lock-down job and could get Koschitzke which would be exciting.
“He’s a big name but it just depends on match-ups.
“Tom Weldon and Jake Millar get those jobs as well.”
Jindera returned to form with a big win over Murray Magpies last weekend with its midfield back to full strength after being decimated for several weeks.
Zac Stuart and Kurt Brereton have had their seasons ended by concussion.
“A few injuries got us for a while,” he said.
“Training has picked up a lot with a bit of enjoyment back and the Murray Magpies’ win got us back on track last week.
“The boys can smell the finals around the corner.”
Howlong can almost stitch up a finals spot by defeating Murray Magpies at Urana Road Oval.
Like most of the teams chasing sixth spot, the Spiders have been on a roller-coaster ride with Matt McDonald, Tim Brook and Tyson Logie needing more support.
The Magpies are struggling for depth but always perform better at home and will keep the pressure on.
CDHBU will start favourites against Rand-Walbundrie-Walla at Coreen.
The Power are keen to finish as high as possible on the ladder and should get the job done through their midfield of Jeremy Stevenson, Shannon Broadbent, Nathan Rhodes and Brad Talbot.
Henty take on Osborne, Lockhart will be looking to upset Culcairn and Billabong Crows host Holbrook.
