Wangaratta's Steve Johnson to retire from AFL

Steve Johnson is eyeing a fairytale finish to his storied career after confirming on Thursday morning he would be the latest great to retire at the end of the year.

Johnson, 34, joined GWS at the end of 2015 following a stellar career at Geelong that included three premierships, a Norm Smith medal, 253 games and 452 goals.

Not bad for a boy from Wangaratta.
