An emotional Murray told the players after the Saints 17.12 (114) to 8.16 (54) win over Wangaratta Rovers.
“I guess my priorities have changed and it’s quite busy at home (with thee children),” he said.
“If I was thinking of myself I could possibly go on again, but if I get hurt, playing footy … it would put too much pressure on things at home.”
Murray has been one of the greatest players in the Saints’ 67-year history in the O and M.
“It was massive news after the game but Brad just wanted to tell the playing group, so it was off his mind and everyone knew,” team-mate Christian Burgess said.
Murray will look to play his final two games against Wangaratta away, before finishing at home against Albury.
Burgess tallied his greatest haul of six goals, surpassing two bags of five last year.
But his best on ground performance was overshadowed by Murray.
