The Whelan family matriarch, who has lived in Wodonga for 62 years, celebrated the milestone on Sunday.
Mrs Whelan's son, Alf Coleman, said receiving a letter from Queen Elizabeth commemorating her birthday, which arrived on Tuesday, had been a highlight.
“She had a great day with the family, but she was very much looking forward to her letter from the Queen,” Mr Coleman said.
“Mum was really pleased everyone could be there, she was thankful they all made it.”
Mrs Whelan has shown a commitment to seniors’ education since the passing of her husband Jack.
Known for teaching leatherwork to fellow seniors, Mrs Whelan has won an Eagle Award from the Wodonga Council, as well as being a life member of the school for seniors.
Mrs Whelan was born in Albury and worked in the Mates building before moving to Wodonga.
