With more and more youngsters taking to the courts, the Albury Basketball Association has found it difficult to keep up with the demand.
Organisers have had to set a cap on numbers and even cut off registrations for an eight-week development program for under 10 and under 12 players, which commenced on Tuesday afternoon.
More than 100 children are set to take part in the program.
Association coach Chris Maginnity said the response had been overwhelming.
“It’s really exciting, and shows we have a strong future for Albury basketball, especially with teams heading to state finals in the coming weeks,” he said.
“We’d hoped to get around 60 kids for this program, but ended up with well over 100.
“Basketball is going from strength to strength, the momentum after the Olympics isn’t going away.”
