Thousand Pound Wine Bar & Store was named Savour Australia's Best Small Bar in Victoria and Tasmania at the Restaurant & Catering Awards in Melbourne on Monday night.
Thousand Pound was the brainchild of Denis Lucey (Bottega, Melbourne and Luxsmith, Seddon) and the All Saints Estate siblings, Eliza, Angela and Nick Brown.
The Terrace Restaurant head chef Simon Arkless oversees the menu while Bec Deslandes heads up the front of house team.
“We are so proud of the excellent crew we have at Thousand Pound who make the place a vibrant and atmospheric business for locals and visitors to the region,” Eliza Brown said.
Thousand Pound edged out six finalists: Cru Cafe & Wine Bar, Kew; Good Heavens – Fancy Hank’s, Melbourne; Pearl & Co, Hobart; Sports Bar – Etihad Stadium Medallion Club, Docklands; Two Buoys, Dromana; and Waterslide Bar, Southbank.
The Savour Australia’s NSW awards will be announced at Luna Park on September 18.
