“It’s shameful that our national Parliament should be traduced by an individual mocking the Muslim faith in the way that Senator Hanson did and I think it’s regrettable,” the member for Farrer said on Friday.
“This is not a personal reflection on Senator Hanson who is actually a member of my NBN committee and with whom I get on quite well.
“This is about a misjudgement.”
Member for Indi Cathy McGowan said the rebuke of Senator Hanson by Attorney-General George Brandis reflected her outlook.
“I really appreciated what he said. I think he captured it really well and he spoke on behalf of all of us in the Parliament. We don’t do that sort of thing,” she said.
“He’s showing the leadership that the country wants.”
