A cold snap has delivered deep coverage across the main resorts.
Two storms at Mount Hotham this month delivered 170 centimetres of snow, while close to half-a-metre fell at Mount Buller from Thursday to Saturday.
Hotham ski patrol director Bill Barker described the weather as “the blizzard of Oz”.
“These have been the coldest storms that we have had for quite a few years and it has allowed us to open up all the terrain across the whole mountain, and right now the resort is looking as good as it ever has,” he said.
The snow is predicted to last beyond the end of the ski season.
Further snowfall is forecast during the week.
Mr Barker said conditions were similar to those found in North America or Europe.
Forecasters had predicted weekend snowfall down to 600 metres, which would have covered Beechworth and Stanley, but it did not eventuate.
