Ballarat schools get in to the spirit of Book Week with costume parades

Schools across Ballarat have got in to the spirit of Book Week with costume parades featuring the favourite literary characters of students and staff.

The costume parades are a fun celebration that highlight the importance of reading.

“Every year we are reminded how lucky we are in Australia to have the remarkable range of creativity and talent in our authors and illustrators,” said Children’s Book Council Australia chair Professor Margot Hillel.

“In our long association with children’s literature, we continue to see the benefits reading brings across all age groups, from developing early literacy, to building story-telling skills and helping older readers tackle real-world problems.”

The theme for this year’s book week celebrations is Escape to Everywhere.
