Speaking with the border’s Triple M this morning, Mr Turnbull said the central focus of his visit will be to discuss Australia’s energy problem.
“Gas prices are too high, they’ve gone up because of a failure of policy. How can we have expensive gas in Australia, given we produce so much?”
“We are working hard to bring down the cost of gas. We’ve already brought down the cost of gas on the East Coast by some very strong measures.”
“It’s a big issue. Albury-Wodonga has a great manufacturing and engineering tradition and energy is a vital input there.”
The Prime Minister took the opportunity to remind voters that it’s the last day to register with the Australian Electoral Commission for the postal plebiscite on same-sex marriage. Plus plans for the third test centre will be announced shortly for drug testing for welfare recipients after Canterbury-Bankstown and Logan in Queensland have been nominated.
The Border Mail will be covering Malcolm Turnbull’s media conference this morning. More to come.
