Extensive experience in farming and a strong family history make Feuerherdt Pastoral Co an impressive farming operation.
Owner Stephen Feuerherdt runs the mixed farming operation and hay contracting business with his wife Sharon and his parents Neville and June.
Stephen and Sharon’s son, Joshua, also works on the farm along with their nephew Bailey. They both came to work on the farm after finishing school.
“It’s well and truly a family affair,” Stephen said.
Stephen is the fourth generation to run the farm after doing an apprenticeship and working as an auto electrician for 10 years then returned to the farm full time.
He had been working on the farm on weekends and during holidays since he was in school.
With his involvement came the development of the hay contracting operation.
“When I got on the scene the hay side really started happening,” he said.
“It’s a bit of side kick for the farm.”
Before they started contacting out they had always made their own hay for sale and to keep for their stock.

Today they make between 15,000 and 25,000 round and square bales a season from around 20 to 25 farms.
They are also still making hay from their own farm to sell and feed to their stock.
Their equipment includes three big square balers (8x4x3) and two round balers and mowers.
All gear is New Holland and is supported by the service of Cadmac Wodonga and Wagga Wagga.
With their equipment meticulously maintained the Feuerherdt family is preparing for what looks like another promising hay season.
“Although we've seen a frosty year, growth looks good at the moment and with stock doing so well quality hay will be in demand,” Stephen said.
During the haymaking season sleep is irregular but the team push through to ensure the job is done to the highest standard.
“It’s challenging job but it’s a good one,” Stephen said.
The family have extensive experience in hay making and contracting and are happy to speak with potential clients about their hay and silage needs.
