There have been several reports of fake $50 notes circulating in the region in recent weeks.
The bills have distinctive Chinese markings on them, but look real at first glance.
Albury officers say the notes can be purchased online, and urge anyone who sights the currency to contact the station.
Fake notes were also spotted in Leeton recently.
A man tried to pass the currency at supermarkets on August 13 and 18.
