Mandoora recorded a top of 39.6 degrees; Karratha, 36.3; Onslow, 36.7; Telfer, 36.2; Roebourne, 36.5, and Marble Bar, 38.0 degrees.
These maximum temperatures were all new record highs for August.
On Sunday, August 27, Onslow set another new August high of 37.7 degrees.
Marble Bar is well-known for the all time record of 163 days in succession of maximum temperatures of over 100 F, 94 years ago.
The 38 degrees (100.4 F) on Friday, August 25, was the town's first Fahrenheit 100 in 116 years of weather records.
The previous August high at Marble Bar was 37.2 degrees on August 27, 1954. Other high August temperatures at Marble Bar occurred in the years 1928, 1935, 1940, 1977, and 1999.
All these past episodes led to a warmer and drier September to early October period than normal in the Albury-Wodonga region, with not much rain except for light falls in early and late September until late October.
A wetter November and summer season followed.
Towns in the Pilbara, which had record high temperatures for August, broke previous records which were set in the years 1954 and 1995.
Both these years experienced a warm, dry September to early October period followed by very wet conditions from mid-October up until February the following year.
In the Northern Territory, both Darwin and Daly Waters recorded their hottest July in 135 years of records and last month will come close to being the hottest ever August. The warmest July-August at both places was in 1906 and 1916.
Daly Waters has this year recorded its warmest April to August period since 1942.
A significant cold change swept across the region on Sunday, August 27.
This cold change resulted in heavy frosts early in the week. However, the next low-pressure trough, currently passing over Western Australia, will bring warmer days by early September to the Albury-Wodonga region.
The warmer weather will be most welcome after many places recorded their coldest month of August since 2010.
