After weeks of speculation, the TDFL club confirmed on Wednesday the pair would be taking over from ruckman Brent Newton.
Newton stepped down due to increasing work commitments.
Whitehead, 29, crossed to Wodonga from North Albury this year and played through the midfield and in attack.
A former Horsham league medallist, Whitehead played his best football in the Ovens and Murray under Jason Akermanis at Bunton Park in 2016 when he kicked 41 goals as a key forward.
He was also an emergency for the inter-league that season.
Whitehead’s departure from Wodonga is another blow after best and fairest favourite Jarrod Hodgkin announced last week he would be crossing to Wodonga Raiders as an assistant-coach before taking over from Daryn Cresswell in 2019.
