Update Monday, 1pm: An intensive search is continuing for 48-year-old Patricia Robinson, who went missing on a property near Dederang on Sunday.
Mrs Robinson was walking with her husband on land they own at 275 Running Creek Road, about 10 minutes out of Dederang.
Acting Superintendent Paul Hargreaves said Mrs Robinson’s husband reported her missing on Sunday afternoon.
“She went out there yesterday for a walk with her husband on a private property and unfortunately they’ve become separated and now she is missing,” he said.
“Being a new property, they are a little unfamiliar with it.
“We’re obviously concentrating on the area at the moment to try and locate her.
“It’s fairly steep country and they were walking around it – they’ve just become separated.
“There are a number of resources assisting us at the moment.”
The alarm was raised about 1pm on Sunday and as the evening progressed, police airwing, North East SES units and police dogs joined the search effort.
On Monday morning, the airwing returned and the mounted police squad also arrived at the site with line searches and police on motorbikes scouring the landscape.
Acting Superintendent Hargreaves said it was believed Mrs Robinson, who does not live at the property but is local to the region, was wearing a light-coloured top with black stripes and tracksuit paints at the time she went missing.
“She’s only wearing light clothing, which is of a concern to us,” he said.
“It was quite cold (last night) so the priority is to get out there and locate her.
“It’s pretty hazardous country out there … the rise is quite high at the back end of the property, it’s heavily treed and there are a number of wombat holes, so it’s pretty unsafe to walk around at night.
“Having said that we were using thermal imaging cameras last night to try and locate her.
“We’re doing the best we can.”
Acting Superintendent Hargreaves would not say whether Mrs Robinson had a phone on her – though mobile phone coverage is next-to-none in the area regardless – and police were concerned she could be injured.
“She’s fit and healthy lady,” he said.
“It’s a possibility (she could be injured) … we have the paramedics here on standby.
“The key focus is where she might be and we call on the public to help us in that vain – if anybody out there has seen or knows of her that can assist us, it would be most appreciated if they could give us a call.”
“We are doing everything we can.”
