UNLIKE other banks, Hume Bank has opted to not go offshore with its new call centre service.
“It’s not in India or Korea or China – it’s local,” Hume chief executive David Marshall said.
The centre began operating at the bank’s Albury head office in Olive Street on Wednesday.
Mr Marshall said greater internet banking made a call centre crucial.
Previously staff members had combined other duties with answering queries.
The call centre runs from 8am to 5.45pm weekdays.
