John Allan Berry applied for his licence back after being caught driving on ice in March, last November and in Queensland last year.
He told Wodonga Magistrates Court on Thursday he had used the drug to stay awake during interstate trucking.
He said he didn’t use meth socially, just for work, with his colleagues a big part of the problem.
“I'd use it to stay awake,” he told magistrate Peter Mithen.
“It's bad – it can affect your driving, affect your ability, affect your reflexes.”
The magistrate said it was “a big risk putting you back on the road".
“I'm trusting you today,” he said as he approved the application.
