Another cup final between the best two women’s soccer teams of the past decade promises to be a physical affair, just the way Albury City and Boomers like.

Defender Jenae Abel said Boomers were struck down with injuries, but believed they could end City’s perfect season.

“We are struggling with a lot of injuries, I don’t even know if we’ve got a bench to be honest,” she said.

“The game itself is a great representation of how far women’s football has come in Albury-Wodonga … I know Boomers as a club and as a team, we look forward to playing City just because of that quality football - it is clean, hard football.”

Albury City’s Brogan Broadway also enjoyed the strong rivalry.

“Every time we play against Boomers we know it’s not going to be a runaway victory, it’s always going to be close, it’s always going to be who can get that tiny little toe-poke through at the last minute that gets you the goal,” she said.
