Police from Albury and Wodonga highway patrol units will attend and take questions at the Albury Council events, to be held on September 28 and October 11 from 5.30pm.
The council’s road safety officer Lauren Musil said young drivers had a “unique confusion” because they had to learn two sets of road rules.
“Each year we always get asked a series of questions about the cross-border issues,” she said.
“The workshops are really aimed at creating safer drivers.”
Young drivers and their parents will also be directed to where they can find all the information they need to understand the rules.
Ms Musil said parents or supervising drivers will be offered tips about teaching teenagers to drive, such as ensuring they have experience all different conditions - in the wet and at night – and that they should still supervise youths at times while they were starting on their P1 licences.
“The statistics absolutely spike with the number of crashes we have with our P1 drivers,” she said.
Wodonga Highway Patrol Senior Constable Owen Clarke said he would be happy to answer questions about the confusion.
“The information is out there, you’ve just got to get it,” he said.
“It’s a very grown up thing having a licence and having a car and you need to be informed.”
