Wodonga Raiders will field 17 with experience at the top level this year, while Yarrawonga’s Tim Cooper was one of the Pigeons’ best in their gripping loss to Wangaratta in the preliminary final.
“He’s a class act Timmy, it will just give our boys an opportunity to take on one of the league’s premier players on the big stage I suppose,” Raiders’ coach Joe Lonergan said.
And as well as Cooper, Yarrawonga also boasts the experience of former league Morris medallist Tim Hargreaves.
The pair has played three times this season, with Raiders grabbing two wins.
The third game was drawn.
“I think we’ve got to come out and play our natural game and our boys have to come out and settle early,” Lonergan said.
Raiders have a wealth of junior talent, including Dylan Clarke, who debuted at senior level this year as a 15-year-old.
