Weilandt debuted in second grade against Blacktown in NSW Premier Cricket last weekend, capturing 1-33 at Birchgrove Park.
“I thought I might start in third grade as Sydney has been pretty strong in second grade winning the past two premierships, but I got a chance and did OK,” Weilandt, 18, said.
“It will be a good learning experience.”
Former NSW cricketer Dan Smith captains the first grade side.
Weilandt trained with the NSW under-19 academy over the winter and has a series of trial matches in coming weeks to select the NSW Country side.
“I was only at Wodonga for 1½-years but it felt like 10 years because I learnt that much,” he said.
“I owe Robbie Jackson as he helped me a lot during that time.”
Weilandt took 19 wickets and made 91 runs last season as Wodonga charged to the premiership.
