Walker recently took part in the AFL under-17s All Stars match during grand final week at Geelong.
He was part of the level one academy last year and has played with the All Australian under-17 side in New Zealand.
Walker and Nick Blakey are the only two NSW and ACT region players to be named.
Garoni, who also plays in the forward-line for the Murray Bushrangers, was one of eight Victoria Country players selected.
Shepparton’s Zane Barzen was also picked after showing flashes of brilliance in the TAC Cup this year.
Under the guidance of academy head coach Luke Power and assistant coaches Brad Johnson, Peter Sumich and Brent Harvey, the squad will come together for accelerated football and personal development camps to be held in Australia and overseas in the next 12 months.
The first camp will take place in Darwin next month based at the Michael Long Learning and Leadership Centre.
The squad will travel to the world-renowned IMG Academy in Florida in January for a high performance training camp where players will prepare for their AFL draft year.
The academy has had a huge success rate with 43 All-Australians coming through the system.
AFL captains Travis Boak, Trent Cotchin, Jack Viney, Jarryd Roughhead, Shannon Hurn, Marc Murphy, Joel Selwood, Steven May and Jack Ziebell have also been involved.
