A truck carrying two tankers full of milk tipped over on the Murray Valley Highway about 3.45am on Thursday.
The rear tanker was badly damaged, causing the milk to seep out into a drainage area next to the road.
The driver was uninjured.
Leading Senior Constable Ross Draper estimated about 10,000 litres could have been lost.
“It appears at this stage the rear trailer has gone into a curb, gone too far to the left and the wheels on the rear trailer have been caught in the dirt and tipped over,” he said.
“We were there for a few hours before we could get it back onto the road.”
A crane had to be brought in to tip the tanker back onto its wheels.
