The undisputed king of racquetball Cam White won his 16th open men’s singles Australian Open Racquetball Championship title in Albury on the weekend.

White overcame a major scare to defeat Rex Hedrick, 21-8, 19-21, 21-11 to continue is dominance of the sport.
Tournament favourite Sarah Fitz-Gerald triumphed in the women’s draw against Kristel Proctor.
The five-time world open squash champion was far too strong, coming away with a 21-6, 21-8 victory.
In the doubles, the open event was won by Steve Andrewartha and Chris England who defeated White and Albury’s Tim Paramore, 21-16, 21-16.
A number of Border players impressed on the national stage, including 16-year-old Albury export Alex Baines.
Baines contested the open men’s singles for the first time of his young career and was eliminated from the tournament in the opening round before going on to win the plate event against the second half of the draw.
His younger sister Gabby also stood out, capturing the junior girls singles title.
Australian Racquetball general manager Paul Vear admitted the North East and Border area is a role model for squash and racquetball for the rest of Australia.
“There was an enormous number of junior players at the event and many of them performed well,” Vear said.
