Children at Baranduda Primary School displayed their decorated shoes and modes of transport at a breakfast before school on Wednesday.
Wodonga West Children’s Centre students are also putting their best feet forward, with a breakfast last week attended by Wodonga mayor Anna Speedie and a shoe parade planned for Friday.
VicHealth’s Walk to School program each October encourages primary school children to walk, ride or scoot safely to and from school.
Baranduda art teacher Chantal FitzSimons said the students had been keen.
“It’s just good to see there’s kids who don’t usually walk to school have started this month, just to be part of it,” she said.
Wodonga West primary wellbeing officer Melissa Potter said it felt “like a real community partnership of the children, the parents and the wider community”.
