Mount Beauty toppled Kiewa in the decider, but the Power will be without its leading bowler and batsman.
Jake Styles claimed an incredible 61 wickets, but he’s joined provincial outfit Belvoir, while Luke Jones is also tackling the higher level with premiers, Wodonga.
Kiewa quick Ryan de Vries has joined provincial club East Albury, while the association’s leading run-scorer in Sean Taylor is another to miss the home game.
“We’re going through that rebuilding period now really, we’re getting a lot of youth into the team, which is really good for the club,” Brent de Vries said.
“We’re just going to replace them with that younger talent coming through.
“It’s been good for myself because I can take on a leadership role, I’m considered one of the more senior players.”
Paceman Ryan Bartel forms part of the junior brigade.
He missed last year’s grand final with Victoria Country under 15 commitments at the national titles.
Meanwhile, Mount Beauty will also look to youth to fill the massive void of Styles and Jones.
“It’s definitely damaging without our best batsman and bowler,” coach Ashan Ranaweera said.
“I have confidence in the young guys and Aidan Grace has been looking really good at the moment.
“We don’t have quick bowlers, but we have a few other options with our medium-pacers and spinners.”
Both teams fell in the opening round.
Yackandandah edged out Kiewa by five runs, while district newcomers Lavington pipped the Power in a three-run thriller.
Elsewhere in round two, Lavington will look to continue its promising start when it hosts Howlong, while Dederang is home to Yackandandah.
Corowa also made a bright start in its district debut after moving from the Wangaratta competition.
Corowa toppled Eskdale and will now meet Baranduda, while Wodonga faces Bethanga.
