The yellas haven’t really started firing this season. And even with water temperatures creeping up, most kept their gobs shut over the weekend.
Add to this the fact that the lakes been dropping for more than a week now (yellas don’t like falling water much), and this made it pretty hard for competitors.
On a brighter note, there were quite a few trout caught.
Not sure of total numbers of fish – the system used to work out winners didn’t allow for that – but it’s fair to say that trout were easier to find than yellas.
Reddies were easier to find than trout, but size was a bit of an issue.
While a couple of really nice reddies showed up, there were hundreds of little fellas about. It sounds like they were caught on just about whatever bait or lure you tossed out there.
Still, sounds like it was a great comp with 429 competitors having a crack. Let’s hope those little yellow buggers are more cooperative next year.
The Wall is picking up a bit on the yella scene, with a few being reported from the rocks and the island.
Trout seem to be up and down a bit, fluctuating with the water flows.
Eucumbene, Jindabyne and Khancoban are all worth a shot at the minute.
But the pick of them seems to be Jindy, with some great conditioned fish coming out.
That’s it for today, catch you again next week.
