The premiers posted a convincing 43-run win to grab their first win.
“We batted well and batted particularly well in partnerships,” Mount Beauty coach Ashan Ranaweera said.
Ross Wilson (41 runs) and Will Betheras (25) compiled 60 for the second wicket, before middle order players Damian Jenvey and Greg McLennan combined for 76.
“Ross Wilson is an attacking batsman while ‘Cowboy’ (McLennan) also did well, going for his big shots,” Ranaweera said.
The Sri Lankan-born mentor has played 58 first-class games, so he’s seen a lot of talented players and he was impressed by the performance of Kiewa quick, teenager Ryan Bartel (3-24).
“He is a good player, definitely has become a good player,” he said.
“He can bat and then he’s a really good bowler.”
Kiewa slumped to 4-55 after Chris Derrick snared three scalps.
The home team collapsed to 9-95 before number nine Jesse McInerney (40) and number 11 Andrew Clark (17no) posted their highest scores in a 60-run stand.
“They batted well, but we tried to give everyone a chance,” Ranaweera said.
The spinner himself didn’t bowl as Mount Beauty used nine bowlers.
Kiewa is now winless after the first two rounds.
Elsewhere, Wodonga blasted Bethanga.
Brad Scheetz hit 50 in Wodonga’s 137, before Elijah Hollands (4-11) and Leigh Collins (3-21) ripped through the visitors for only 75.
