Detectives have charged three teenage girls over the matter, which occurred in Wandoo Crescent on May 6.
The blaze was largely contained to the kitchen but also damaged the roof of the unit.
Detective Inspector Winston Woodward said there was no point to the criminal damage.
“Malicious damage offences are a senseless act,” he said.
“Breaking into somebody’s property is a serious crime.
“It’s unknown why young people – not all young people, some young people – damage property.”
The trio, aged 14, 17 and 18, will front court at a later date on charges of aggravated break and enter and intentionally or recklessly damaging property by fire.
