Albury and District Aeroclub president Martin Daniell said older military and general aviation aircraft would be on display, alongside simulators and joy flights.
Mr Daniell said about 1000 people were expected to attend the open day, which shows off what Albury had to offer.
“It’s an opportunity for the public to see what goes on at the airport and for owners to pull their aircraft out of the hangars and show them off,” he said. “It shows young people the opportunities they have to get involved in aviation whether sporting or vocationally.”
For the first time the Australian Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association will attend the event.
The association will bring junior pilot flight simulations and offer junior pilot first flight experiences.
“The big feature is AOPA visiting,” Mr Daniell said.
“They put a lot of effort into encouraging people to get involved in aviation, so it’s great to see them come.”
This year’s aircraft display will feature the German Focke-Wulf FW190, the only one in Australia and old favourites like the Kittyhawk.
Aircraft owners and air force cadets will be on hand to talk about the history of aircraft on display and the joys of aviation.
The open day runs from 10am to 2pm at Albury Airport, with a barbecue and hot and cold drinks available.
